Typesetting/Composition
We have been typesetting books for more than 35 years.
To pull a heavy load, you need horsepower. To produce high-volume documents, you need processing power. Our servers provide the processing speeds needed to produce hundreds of pages fast.
Our composition system (OASYS) is the premier "best-of-breed" publishing system for high-quality, high-volume, standard-based structured document publishing. We work in a fully integrated XML editing environment, providing native XML workflow throughout the publishing cycle. Our OASYS application has XML interfaces that enable it to operate as a Web service, allowing it to become part of an online solution that automates XML, styling, and exporting to multiple publishing channels that include XHTML, EPUB, PDF, PS, text, etc.
Should the customer prefer another application to produce a project, we also compose books using InDesign.
Copy Editing and Proofreading
Our copy editors make it say what it means and mean what it says.
Literary work must be grammatically accurate in every respect. Not to have your literary project achieve this level of excellence, leaves the reader open to doubt. If the sentences are structurally incorrect, then the facts will also be in doubt.
Our copy editors and proofreaders have decades of experience perfecting manuscripts to the highest level of literary excellence. We edit manuscripts word by word and page by page. Anything less will result in a poorly produced literary document.
We pay attention to each word in each sentence to ensure that the publication is grammatically correct, technically accurate, readable, and consistent from chapter to chapter. We make sure the manuscript is stylistically consistent with the guide preferred by the publisher and that citations and references align.
To get a manuscript to this level of literary excellence, you need editors and proofreaders who have proven expertise.

The IGS project management department includes author-centered production editors, with decades of experience, who are appreciated by authors and publishers alike. From the initial review, through design, copy editing, composition, proofreading, author and publisher reviews, indexing, to the print-ready project and management of the post-press content, one go-to person will oversee the team for your publication. Your preferences, specifications, and desired level of involvement will be respected at every stage. We are focused on providing an excellent product, on schedule, and within budget.
Indexing
Good indexes sell books.
We provide publishers with traditional indexing or electronic indexing and have done so for many years. The index is often both a figurative and a literal afterthought for a publication. At the same time, it can be the first stop for the reader or the browsing potential reader. Anything in the book worth searching should be indexed.
Book Cover and Interior Designing
The first step to selling a book is getting it noticed.
As with every department within IGS, we adjust our designs based on customer requirements. We produce designs, after a discussion with the customer, and research on the book's topic. Because of our knowledge of the full process and our experience in multiple fields, our designers provide work that is visually attractive and technically high functioning.
Scanning of Images and OCR
Our expertise with capturing the image, enhancing, cloning, etc., is a result of decades of experience working in this area. Optical character reading (OCR) has been provided to our customers since 1990.
Our high-volume scanners can help your business digitize all documents and/or turn them into editable text. IGS has the capacity to scan more than 10,000 pages an hour or 60,000 pages per day. We can deliver your files in many different formats.
Conversions
If you need PDFs converted to InDesign, send them to IGS.
IGS can take your PDF files from years ago or those that have been recently produced and give you native InDesign files.
We recreate the intended construction and layout of the document by forming paragraphs, applying styles, regrouping independent graphic elements, extracting images, creating tables, and recovering annotations and other elements automatically. We convert every page in a PDF or XPS file to an equivalent page in the resulting InDesign document. We also provide options for converting or extracting data from a range of pages in a PDF or XPS document. We can extract text or images or convert the entire document to the InDesign format.
We can convert QuarkXPress files to InDesign that will run on the Macintosh or Windows platform.
